Fe sicrhaodd Cymric eu lle yn rownd nesaf Cwpan W John Owen gyda buddugoliaeth o 1-0 yn erbyn Trefforest o dan y llifoleuadau nos Wener.
Cymric oedd y tîm gorau o bellffordd yn yr hanner cyntaf ond - oherwydd cyfuniad o arbedion gwych gan golwr y tîm cartref ac ambell i benderfyniad dadleuol - di-sgôr oedd hi ar yr hanner.
Er i'r ymwelwyr ddechrau'r ail hanner yn arafach, mater o amser oedd hi cyn i'r gôl fuddugol fynd i fewn, ac fe ddigwyddodd hynny lai na 10 munud o'r diwedd.
Yr eilydd Tom Roberts sgoriodd y gôl hollbwysig drwy grymanu'r bêl i gornel y rhwyd o 8 llath. Munudau'n ddiweddarach fe gafodd Roberts ei anfon o'r cae am ddigwyddiad oddi ar y bêl ond fe ddaliodd Cymric ymlaen i sicrhau eu lle yn y bedwaredd rownd a gêm ddarbi yn erbyn Llanrumney United.

Cymric booked their place in the next round of the W John Owen Cup with a hard fought but comfortable victory at Treforest.
Cymric completely dominated the first half and had a few good chances to open the scoring but some excellent saves by the Treforest keeper kept them in the game.
Cymric were also guilty of missing some guilt edged chances when they were unable to hit the target. Ryan David was unlucky to have a goal disallowed for offside as he turned a great Huw Owen cross into the net form 6 yards. Treforest didn’t trouble the Cymric defence at all but they went into the break on level terms.
Cymric started the second half a little bit slower and allowed Treforest to get a foot hold into the game. They very nearly took an unexpected lead when a great effort from 25 yards was tipped on to the post by Iwan Jones in the Cymric net and the ball rebounded safe. This kickstarted Cymric and they started to dominate once again but just couldn’t find that elusive first goal to allow them to settle down.
However, they took the lead with what proved to be the match-winner with 9 minutes left to play when substitute Tom Roberts, who’d only been on the field for a couple of minutes, curled a right foot shot inside the far post from 8 yards. He was then sent off for an off-the-ball incident with 5 minutes left to play but Cymric comfortably held on to book their place against Llanrumney United in the 4th round.
