Clwb Cymric 2-1 Cadoxton Barry

Cymric went into this match wanting to avenge the two defeats at their opponents hands at the start of the season and to collect three valuable points in their quest for safety.

They started very brightly and played some very good football during the first 15 minutes but just failed to create any chances of note.

Dylan Evans went close on 25 minutes when he shot early just inside the box but the Cadoxton keeper made a wonderful save down to his left.

Cymric continued to dominate and should have had a penalty when Dylan Evans was taken down from behind when he was about to shoot but the referee waved play on much to Cymric and Cadoxton's amazement.

But Cymric took a deserved lead after 33 minutes. Some good interplay between Kyle Goodfellow and Ryan David saw the ball being squared to Huw Owen on the edge of the Cadoxton box and his left foot shot curled into the corner of the net with the keeper only able to watch it go in.

Ryan David should have made it two when the ball broke to him six yards out but he shot straight at the keeper with the goal at his mercy. Cadoxton equalised just before half time when an in-swinging corner from the left was glanced into the far corner from the near post. All level at half time.

Cymric took a very early lead in the second half when the Cadoxton keeper failed to hold on to a tame Huw Owen shot and the ball slipped from his hands into the net in virtual slow motion.

This spurred Cadoxton on and they had a lot of possession but didn't really test James Hendy in the Cymric goal as the Cymric defence stood firm.

Cymric were dangerous on the break and had a few chances to make the game safe but they couldn't quite find the killer pass in the final third. As the light was fading, Cadoxton changed their formation in order to try and get the all important equaliser but the Cymric defence stood firm, ensuring that Hendy had nothing to do and they held on for the win and three vital points.
